Tuesday August 10th Crew X helped lead our Carnival Day at Enchanted Care. Carnival games were set up on the train playground. Preschool and Pre-K classes came over from the Learning Center next door and had a BLAST with the Pitch Burst game. In fact, this was a crowd favorite. It was SO hot yesterday, the kids really enjoyed beating the heat with a GIANT water balloon. Then it was our turn to rotate through the games outside. While each group took turns at the Carnival, other groups got their face painted and snacked on popcorn while cooling off inside. A few other favorites were pin the tail on the donkey, ring toss, and potato sack races. At the end of the day, each student received 10 tickets for their participation in the games. These tickets will then be used to buy prizes in our school store this week! Despite the heat, Crew X did a wonderful job leading our 2010 Camp Carnival.

Bake Sale
Crew X helped put together yet another fundraiser to help support the EDF. Baked goods were brought in by teachers and students from our Crew X summer camp group. In the morning, Crew X separated and bagged up all the goodies to be sold. There was a wonderful array of sweet treats. The students who bought goodies at the bake sale, were then able to indulge in their treats after they ate a good lunch. Some of them bought so many sweets, they had to go home!!! We even had the teachers from the Learning Center next door come over to buy some goodies. A BIG thanks goes out to all students and parents who helped make this event another success here at Camp Zone 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Home Ec
Once a week, each crew participates in making a home ec project/snack in the cafeteria. Throughout the summer, the children have expressed some of their favorites. I have listed some of them below. If you try them out at home, let me know how they taste. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!
Today we made a s'mores pizza. They LOVED the chocolate chips and the chocolate syrup.
S'mores Pizza
Plain pizza crust
mini marshmallows
chocolate chips
chocolate syrup
graham cracker crumbs
It worked best when I cut the pizza crust before putting it in the oven. First place a thick layer of chocolate chips over the pizza crust. On 450, heat until chips have melted. Take the pizza out and add the mini marshmallows. Again, heat in oven and allow the marshmallows to melt, turn brown and puffy. Serve immediatly. I served it with chocoalte syrup drizzled over the top then added a dusting of graham cracker crumbs.
Magic Potion
1/2 cup cold water
1/2 cup white sugar
1 liter sprite
1 package unsweetened drink mix (we used fruit punch)
vanilla ice cream
In a large pitcher, stir togther sugar, drink mix and water. Slowly add sprite. Pour into cups then add a few scoops of ice cream and enjoy!!!!
Edible Pencils
Cheese Sticks
Mustard
Bugles
Bologna
mini chocolate chips
Cut a small circle out of the bologna and attach it to your cheese stick using mustard. Then bite the tip of your bugel and add one mini chocoalte chip to use for the pencil tip. You can also add mustard to help it stick. Carefully push the bugel onto the other end of your cheese stick. Bam! You have an edible pencil.
